Curricular

The academic curriculum at Dair House is in line with the Foundation Stage Curriculum in Nursery and Reception and the National Curriculum for Year 1 onwards. A very wide and varied range of subjects is offered the children throughout the school, as confirmed in the Ofsted Report, 2005 and Independent Schools Inspectorate Report, 2004:

"Teaching is very good. Staff have a good knowledge of the Foundation Stage and use this to plan an interesting, stimulating and fun curriculum for the children."

"Children have many opportunities to develop their imaginative play through a wide range of situations."

"Children participate with enthusiasm in the well planned music and movement sessions and have opportunities to listen to sound and rhythm and make their own music."

"Staff treat the children with kindness and respect."

Ofsted Nursery Inspection Report, March 2005

"The curriculum is good; it offers a broad and balanced general education suited to all pupils across the full age and ability range. The curriculum for children up to age five provides well for each of the six areas of learning. From reception a suitably broad and balanced curriculum is provided; sufficient emphasis is placed on literacy and numeracy."

"The curriculum is enriched by a satisfactory range of extra-curricular activities, including sport. Visits and visitors enhance the curriculum. For example, a display about artefacts in ancient Egypt was created as a result of Year 3 visiting the British Museum and in Year 2 pupils had visited the Slough trading estate and then made models of the buildings as part of their design and technology lessons."
