WEEK 2
YEAR 4 VISIT THE BRITISH MUSEUM
Year 4 enjoyed an action-packed day at the British Museum. The main focus of the visit was to find out more about life in Ancient Egypt. An excellent workshop studying one of the recently restored wall paintings from the tomb of Nebamun gave them a superb insight into the clothes, jewellery, customs and traditions of the Ancient Egyptians. This was followed by a visit to the gallery where they could see for themselves the series of highly detailed wall paintings from Nebamun's tomb which have been restored over the last ten years. After that, the children enjoyed searching for the artefacts they have previously researched at school, for example a mummified cat, shabti figures and decorative collar necklaces. Most of them thought that the mummies and decorated coffins were the most impressive exhibits. 'It was the best school visit ever', they agreed.
Year 4 are overawed by the size of one of the huge statues.
A treasure hunt in the galleries, finding valuable evidence.
Examining and discussing artefacts.
Looking in detail at the famous wall painting from Nebamun's tomb.
YEAR 5 BREAD MAKING
As part of their healthy living, science and literacy instruction writing, Year 5 spent an afternoon making bread. In their own words, "It was lots of fun". And the bread was "yummy, delicious, delightful, tasteful and satisfying". The page could be filled with all the adjectives they used. They obviously enjoyed the experience with Mrs Formby.
